Friday foolishness

Today, we give you a big bunch of videos to while away those final few hours before the weekend. Starting with Wednesday's excellent daytime television swearing from Joan Rivers...

Followed by the answer to the question, "If Facebook had been around in the 60s, what would Bob Dylan have sung about it?"

Next, here's what Darth Vader looks like on the dancefloor (via Michael)

And we'll finish off with one of my favourite bits of comedy radio ever. It's Adam and Joe trying to understand the phenomenon that is R Kelly's 'Trapped in the Closet' hip hopera...

Jobberish

Woke up this morning having just been told by a woman in my dream that, "These companies are chosen because they're bi-orientational." I think it was because I'd read this excellent article on the BBC website yesterday, '50 office-speak phrases you love to hate'.

My most loathed office jargon phrase is probably, "Guys, we don't need to reinvent the wheel here", although I used to hate it when my old boss would constantly postpone the discussion of relevant issues indefinitely by saying, "That's something we need to talk about" (and then not talk about it).

More recently, there was a huge reshuffle at work last week in which it was revealed that employees who would be moving to the new framework without changing role were "mapped", while the people whose jobs were going to be merged were described as "pooled" and those who were going to be made redundant were, simply, "displaced".

Free Firefox Fo Fum

Today's the big day for the Firefox gang. With the release of the third version of the IE-killing browser, the boffins at FFHQ are hoping to set a world record for the most worldwide downloads in 24 hours. They must have a server the size of Swindon.

If you're not already using Firefox at this stage in the game - and I use the word "using" very much in the hopeless addict sense of the word - well God, Jed, I don't even wanna know you!*

*As The West Wing's Mrs Landingham once said, talking about something completely unrelated.
